5. Nage-waza and Ne-waza: wrestling techniques
5.1. Applicants must perform self-breaks and throws with the audible "SEI!" exhalation.
5.2. Applicants with white belts must perform only breaks, both for self-defense and in cases of falling from a strike during sparring.
5.3. Applicants with yellow belts must be able to perform uchikomi (turns) from a static position, as well as basic attacking techniques on the ground.
5.4. Applicants with green belts and above must be able to perform throws while moving and demonstrate a variety of techniques and movements from different positions.
5.5. Applicants with brown belts must possess skills in free wrestling with painful and choking holds.
5.6. Ukemi (break)
10 kyu – self-protection when falling on the back, on the left/right side, and forward from a squat position, with the ability to return to the starting position: 3 times
9 kyu – self-protection when falling on the back, on the left/right side, and forward from a squat position with the ability to return to the starting position, the assistant pushes the candidate to set the acceleration: 3 times
8 kyu – forward roll with protection (legs in a cross position), special attention is paid to monitoring the correct position of the arms and legs after the fall: 5 times
7 kyu – Ebi ("shrimp move" or crawling out)
5.7. Nage-waza – Throws
Series of uchikomi (underthrows) must end with a final throw. The person being thrown performs ukemi (safety), which is also assessed during the exam.6-5 kyu – uchikomi (undercut) techniques
Candidates must perform uchikomi with one of their chosen techniques, three times each.
Technique types:
- Forward throws: Tai-otoshi (front leg sweep), Harai-goshi (leg sweep), etc.
- Backward throws: O-soto-gari (grab), throwing the opponent by the leg with the far leg from the outside, O-soto-otoshi (rear leg sweep), etc. Others: Ouchi-gari (inside hook), Kosoto-gari (outside heel sweep), Kouchi-gari (inside sweep with the near leg), etc.
4-3 kyu and above – must know all of the above, but perform them while moving forward and backward, using the force of inertia to throw. One technical element moving forward, two technical elements moving backward (Kubinage, Seoi-nage, Tai-otoshi, Kouchi-gari, etc.)
5.8. Ne-vaza - parterre
Starting position: the assistant is below, the person being assessed is above, holding both hands on the assistant's knees- Knee kicks. Grabbing the opponent's knees from the inside, kicking them to the side, or passing through them, or pressing on the opponent's legs with your weight and passing the guard.
- Pushing the opponent's knees and passing the guard. After pushing one knee, maintain the necessary control over both the opponent's legs and the other knee/leg over which the opponent's leg passes.
- Holding the opponent's leg and passing the guard.
- Straightening the opponent's legs downwards and passing the guard.
- Passing the guard using a technique at the discretion of the person being assessed.
Note:Certifiers perform the specified techniques one by one, using them to transition to mount.6-5 kyu
Painful holds: Udo-hisigi-juji-gatame, Udo-garame, Ashi-kubi-jime, Hiji-jujo-gatame, Waki-gatame
Choke holds: Okuri-jime, Hadaka-jime, Juji-jime, Sankaku-jime
4-3 kyu
Implementation of grappling skills from the bottom position:
- Escape a face-to-face position by using the "shrimp" motion, where the athlete applies a cross-body hold with a cross-grab of the far arm and body (yoko-shiho-gatame).
- Demonstrate painful and choking techniques (sankaku, juji, shime) from the bottom position.
Brown and black belt candidatesBrown and black belt candidates demonstrate free grappling techniques: transitions from a standing position to the ground, performing a painful or choke hold, or control with a finishing move. Throwing techniques are demonstrated in one round (3 minutes).
For 3 minutes, candidates alternately perform three throws.
The candidate performing the throws must demonstrate mastery of various forward, backward, and sideways throws, as well as transitions to painful/choke holds and control with a finishing move after the throw.
Their partner demonstrates a self-protection technique.
